An interesting match was played between the two teams at the annual general meeting of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, Sourav Ganguly and Jai Shah faced off against BCCI President XI and BCCI Secretary XI respectively. In this, Jai Shah’s team defeated Ganguly’s team by one run.
Ganguly, who came on the field after a long absence, batted vigorously and scored a brilliant 35 runs. However, in this exciting match, Jai Shah’s team managed to win by one run. Batting first, Jai Shah’s team lost 3 wickets and scored 128 runs. Jaydev Shah scored 40 runs for the team. Arun Dhumal scored 36 runs. At the same time, the BCCI secretary remained unbeaten on 10 runs. Sourav Ganguly took one wicket for 19 runs.
In reply, Ganguly’s team had set a target of 129 to win the match. Ganguly, who came in sixth in the match, batted hard. Meanwhile, several trademark strokes appeared in his off side. Ganguly hit two fours and two sixes in the match. As a rule, he had to retire. Apart from Ganguly, Abhishek Dalmiya scored 13 and Mohammad Azharuddin 2 runs.
Thus, Ganguly’s team managed to score only 127 runs in the allotted 15 overs and lost the match by one run. BCCI secretary Jai Shah took three wickets for 58 runs while bowling brilliantly.
