Ejaz alone guarded the entire Indian team at Wankhede ground.
New Zealand spinner Ejaz Patel bowled the entire Indian team at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Ejaz took 10 wickets in one innings of the Test match. With this, he equaled India’s Anil Kumble. Ejaz then went viral on social media. Ejaz was born in Mumbai and after this feat in Mayabhumi, netizens have sparked a different discussion about him.
After the record set at Wankhede, rumors are circulating on social media that IPL franchise Mumbai Indians will add Ejaz to their squad. There will be a big auction for the upcoming season of IPL, in which Ejaz can play for Mumbai. Mumbai have retained Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieran Pollard and Suryakumar Yadav, while others have been put up for auction. Therefore, new players can be recruited in Mumbai. If Ashat Ejaz comes to Mumbai, the team will definitely get a strong spin bowler.
Apart from Anil Kumble and Ejaz, the record was first set by Jim Laker of England. The spin bowlers have managed to take 10 wickets in a Test innings. But this is the first time a bowler has done this feat outside the home. Earlier, Kumble and Laker had done this at home.
In 1956, England’s Laker (51.2-23-53-10) took 10 wickets against Australia at Old Trafford and in 1999, Kumble (26.3-9-74-10) took 10 wickets against Pakistan. Ejaz managed to get 10 victims abroad. Richard Headley has taken the most 9 wickets from New Zealand so far. This record was also broken by Ejaz.
