Pimpri – State Environment Minister Aditya Thackeray on Wednesday (Dec. 29) visited the vehicle manufacturing projects of companies in Pimpri-Chinchwad industrial estate and learned about the electric vehicle process. He appealed to the people to give priority to the purchase of environmentally friendly electric vehicles as the state has announced an electric vehicle policy.
Environment Minister Thackeray was speaking to reporters after visiting various companies in MIDC on Wednesday (29). He was accompanied by Minister of State for Environment Sanjay Bansode and former Minister of State for Housing Sachin Ahir. Minister Thackeray inquired about the cost and duration of production of electric vehicles, quality of the vehicle, battery capacity, charging period, production of buses based on new technology.
He said that the state government has adopted an environmentally friendly “electric vehicle policy” to curb the rising pollution. I am visiting and discussing with certain companies that manufacture electric vehicles in the state. How it is produced in companies. We are getting information about the production capacity. How many people can be encouraged to use these vehicles after the introduction of electric vehicles, how many people can afford electric vehicles. This is being tested. Pollution is on the rise in the state. For this, the government is trying to promote electric vehicles, said Minister Thackeray.
Expressing satisfaction over vehicle manufacturing, he said, “It takes time to use electric vehicles in metros like Mumbai and Pune.” It is equally important to produce with the needs of the citizens in mind. Seating capacity should be arranged keeping in view the distance between the long and short distance. The government is promoting a company that manufactures electric vehicles. The use of electric vehicles to maintain the balance of the environment is a need of the hour and in the future, the maximum use of this vehicle by the citizens will be environmentally friendly, he added.
Thackeray, meanwhile, declined to comment on political or other issues, saying there was a press conference in Pune where he would speak in detail.
