NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday reported 31,222 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, pushing the overall country’s coronavirus tally to 3.30 crore, according to the Union health ministry’s updated data at 9 am.
Yesterday, the country reported 38,948 new cases.

In the last 24 hours, 290 more people succumbed to Covid-19. With this, the overall death count has jumped to 4.41 lakh.

The active cases have declined to 3.92 lakh in the country, which is 1.19% of total cases.

There were 42,942 more discharges in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 3.22 crore, says the health ministry’s release. The weekly positivity rate is 2.56%, which is less than 3% for last 74 days. The daily positivity rate, however, is reported to be 2.05%, which is less than 3% for last 8 days.
So far, 53.31 crores samples have been tested to detect Covid-19 among people, according to Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR).
Under the nationwide vaccination program that commenced on January 16 this year, 69.90 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far. Of this, more than 1.13 crore vaccine doses were administered in the last 24 hours.

India’s Covid-19 tally had crossed the 20-lakh mark on August 7, 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5 and 50 lakh on September 16. India crossed the grim milestone of 2 crore cases on May 4.
