India’s great offspinner Harbhajan Singh may soon retire from international cricket. Harbhajan will be part of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Harbhajan Singh will be seen as a member of the support staff of one of the leading franchises of IPL 2022. This has been claimed in the PTI news.
Harbhajan, 41, played some matches for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the first round of IPL 2021. But he has not played a single match in the UAE leg of the league. Harbhajan Singh is expected to officially announce his retirement from competitive cricket next week. He will then join the support staff of an IPL franchise.
An IPL source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told PTI: “Harbhajan’s new role could be part of a mentoring or advisory team. The concerned franchisee wants to take advantage of Harbhajan’s experience. He will also play an active role in helping the franchise select players for the auction. ” Harbhajan Singh has played for Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.
Out of these teams, Harbhajan won the title along with Mumbai and Chennai. He had a chance to win the trophy with Kolkata in IPL 2021, but the team lost in the final. He played 163 matches in the IPL and took 150 wickets. His best was five wickets for 18 runs.
Harbhajan Singh has played 103 Tests for India. He took 417 wickets. He has taken 269 wickets in 236 ODIs. He has played 28 matches for India in T20I. He has taken 25 wickets in this.
