Serious allegations of MNS; Illegal possession of houses in BSUP

Thane: The case of bogus flat owners who have been illegally occupying the flats under the BSUP scheme has come to light recently. Although the municipality has appointed an inquiry committee in this case, there are signs that the management of this committee is also in dispute. The complainants alleged that the inquiry was being framed in view of the skepticism about the appointment of officers in the committee as well as the modus operandi of the inquiry.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena division president Sandeep Pachange had lodged a complaint in this regard and demanded an inquiry. The MNS has alleged that the Municipal Corporation has completed the task of appointing an inquiry committee on the basis of this complaint, but in reality the inquiry has not started yet. A complaint has been lodged with the Thane Bribery Prevention Department in this regard and it has been demanded to investigate the culprits and take action.

In Dharmaveer Nagar, Thane, in the year 2013, NMC constructed Anand Kripa building through BSUP scheme. The flats were allotted to the residents in building no. After allotment of flats, flats numbered 603, 802, 804, 805 and 807 remained in the buildings. These flats were illegally occupied by some citizens. The residents of the building had lodged a complaint with the municipal administration. Municipal Corporation, however, did not take any further action.

As soon as the complaint was received by Maharashtra Navnirman Sena divisional president Sandeep Pachange, he met Additional Commissioner Sandeep Malvi along with a delegation of residents. After Malvi ordered the administration to take action, the houses of the unauthorized occupants of the building were inspected. At the same time, some houses were evacuated by showing the way out to the tenants living in unauthorized manner. Explaining that the matter was serious, Pachange had met the commissioner and demanded an inquiry into the matter. Accordingly, an inquiry committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Sanjay Herwade, Additional Commissioner, Thane Municipal Corporation. It consisted of Deputy Commissioner, Suburban Engineer, Executive Engineer. Although two months have passed since the formation of the committee, Pachange has complained that the committee has not yet conducted an inquiry.

After this inquiry, only the names of the municipal officials are likely to come forward in the scam. The bogus occupants have been infiltrated not only in BSUP but also in other projects of the corporation. Interim Municipal Corporation had undertaken a massive road widening campaign. Complaints are coming up that the allotment of houses as well as the slats of the rehabilitation project implemented at this time has been done in a controversial manner. It is suspected that an official with expertise in the process also caused a lot of confusion in the BSUP project. Pachange has alleged that the inquiry committee is not working to save such officers. Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Sanjay Herwade could not be reached for comment.

Farm eaten by fence

Some brokers are buying and selling houses in the project by holding the hands of Thane Municipal Corporation officials and preparing false documents. He has started earning money every month by renting some houses with the blessings of the authorities. After the complaint, the municipality forced the residents living illegally to demolish their houses. However, the committee is refraining from taking action even after providing information along with evidence about the residents who were given rent for 8 years. Therefore, MNS has accused the fence of eating the farm.
