The objective is to build 3090 houses in a period of five months

Thane: The second phase of Central and State Government sponsored Gharkul Yojana Maha-Awas Abhiyan Grameen 2021-22 is being implemented in the district from November to March. In the first phase of Maha Awas Yojana, 10 thousand 198 houses were sanctioned in the district through central and state sponsored scheme. Out of this 9 thousand 440 houses have been constructed and work of 758 houses is still incomplete.

In the second phase of this campaign, it has been decided to build a total of 3 thousand 90 new houses. As a result, the district administration will have to construct a total of 3 thousand 848 unfinished and newly approved houses in the next five months.

The Thane District level workshop was recently inaugurated online by the District Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde under Maha Awas Abhiyan Phase II being implemented through Zilla Parishad and Zilla Gramin Vikas Yantra. At the national level, a survey was conducted focusing on social and economic criteria. The survey collected information on those in need of housing for the economically weaker sections. The decision to give priority to all these families was taken by the Central Government. It was decided to identify the beneficiary families of this scheme and give them a grant of Rs. 1 lakh 20 thousand for building a house.

Beneficiary families are expected to build their own houses under this scheme. Beneficiaries are paid according to the progress of the work in the process of building the house. The work of households is supervised by a housing engineer appointed in the rural department. In the first phase of the campaign, a target of 6,708 households was set by the centrally sponsored Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Out of which 480 houses are incomplete. In the second phase of the campaign, a target of 2,615 households has been set. A total of 3 thousand 95 houses are to be completed.

Apart from this, 3,490 houses were sanctioned in the first phase of state sponsored housing schemes like Ramai, Shabari, Adim Pardhi Awas Yojana, Deendayal Gharkul Purchai Arthasahayya Yojana. Out of these, work of 278 households is incomplete. Under this, in the second phase, 475 new houses are to be constructed in the district. The district administration has informed that the target of 753 households will be achieved in this second phase of the campaign.
